About Lynda R. Williams
Professional Experience
Lynda has been teaching for over 34 years. She taught in the K-12 public school system in California. And holds a k-12 teaching credential in California and endorsements in English as a Second Language and Science. She has a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Science. She taught as a lecturer at California State University, Fullerton in the Professional Teacher Education Program. Lynda currently teaches at Utah Valley University in the School of Education. She teaches primarily science methods for elementary school teachers and classroom management.
While in California, Lynda worked as a CAl TPA Assessor. She co-authored a book, The CalTPA Prep Guide
Awards and Recognition
Lynda, along with her research partner, Sandy Jay, has won two awards for her research on using interactive notebooks. One award was from the Center for Scholastic Inquiry and one was from Utah Valley University Engaged Learning Conference.
In 2019, Lynda was awarded the Faculty Excellence Award at Utah Valley University.
Curriculum Development
Lynda has developed a curriculum for science that addresses the NGSS standards and the Utah SEEd standards. She has created materials for grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. Her science resources combine hands-on science investigations, slide shows, reading informational text passages, science centers, science games, science lesson plans, interactive notebook folds, and complete science units. Professional Development
Lynda offers professional development to schools and districts in Utah on teaching using the Utah SEEd standards. Utah SEEd stands for Utah Science and Engineering Education Standards. Lynda is passionate about making sure teachers have the resources and knowledge to implement these standards into their classrooms. Lynda trains teachers to use the Science and Engineering Practices. phenomena, with Utah SEEd.
