The Rock Cycle with Interactive Notebook Ideas for Science

Here is a great lesson idea for teaching the rock cycle.

Start with crayon shavings.  What do they represent in the rock cycle?

Apply pressure...now what do they look like?
Try applying heat and then heat and pressure...
Now what do they look like?

In the photo below the student recorded the above experiment in their interactive notebook.

Students explain their understanding of the formation of the three types of rocks.

This entire unit including informational text articles, foldables, worksheets, lesson plans and more is available in my store.Integrated Rock Unit
